Jamie Foxx is set to star in the film I Shot the Sherriff, taking the lead role as the legendary Bob Marley. The actor, who was also the star of the Ray Charles biograpic Ray, will now be playing the reggae star for director Rachid Bouchareb (Dust of Life). The film concentrats on the icon's early career. Robert Nesta Marley was born in Jamaica on February 6th, 1945. During his career, he wrote 250 songs, including the successful No Woman No Cry, Is This Love, Redemption Song and I Shot the Sherriff, among others, becoming a music icon for millions and heavily influencing reggea and pop music for generations after his death. Marley died in Miami in 1981, at the age of 36, from lung cancer. |
