The Chinese government has ordered all cinemas to stop showing the film The Da Vinci Code. Although Ron Howard film has already been out for several weeks, Chinese authorities have only just made a decision on whether or not it should be shown in their country. The official reason given by the government was that they are making room for more local films to be shown during the peak summer season. The film has already been banned in Fiji, Pakistan and some Indian states. This is not the first time that the country's government has censored feature films. Memoirs of a Geisha and Brokeback Mountain were also banned. |
