An outraged David Beckham has hit back at the German press, after they made insulting comments about his family.
The soccer ace is said to have been hurt by the viscious comments made in Bild newspaper, by columnist Tobias Holtkamp, who labelled his sister Joanne 'fat' and said that his mother as having the 'smile of a peasant'. Beckham labelled the journalist 'sad', dismissing the attack as an attempt to put the English captain off his game during the World Cup.
Holtkamp himself has excused the article as fun, saying that the insults were meant in jest and that they sounded worse in translation.
Beckham has been careful to point out that he is angry with one person rather than Germany as a whole, saying that he has always had a good relationship with the German people. |
