A healthy-looking Pete Doherty escaped jail earlier this week, after the presiding judge admitted that she admired his work.
Doherty, who has spent the past fortnight in rehab at The Priory, after pleading guilty to five counts of class A drug possession in August, tested negative for heroin and cocaine, winning praise for his apparently successful rehabilitation. District Judge Jane McIvor ruled that sending him down would be counterproductive to his rehabilitation, which is set to continue at the London clinic. His sentencing has been deferred until December to allow his treatment to continue, but Doherty is due back in court in October, for review.
Meanwhile, the troubled rocker has been evicted from his flat in East London, for failing to pay rent. The self-proclaimed drug addict is said to have run up a bill of more than £10 000 on his drug den since January, prompting the landlord, Andreas Panayiotou, to call him the “worst tenant in his company’s entire history”: “As well as not paying his rent, there’s both graffiti and blood on the wall, and goodness knows what else. We have never known anyone like him.”. |
