Madonna has said that she's happy with the controversy her adoption of David Banda has caused, despite the media intrusion and intense criticism she has received. The Queen of Pop is no stranger to controversy, and it's been a constant of her long and successful career. She angered Catholics with her risqué Like A Prayer video, which featured her having sex with a black saint, presumed to be Jesus, and also imagery of stigmata and burning crosses. She's famed for constantly re-inventing herself, breaking the mould and pushing boundaries. She famously wrote a guide to sex featuring erotic and soft-porn photos. Even as she's matured as an artist, Madonna has always courted controversy. Earlier this year she was lambasted for appearing on a cross in an act featured in her world tour.
It seems that anything Madonna does courts controversy, which is why she's pleased that her latest scandal over the adoption of David has been caused by a good deed. She hopes that the controversy will raise awareness of the plight of the million oprhans, many of them AIDS orphans, living in poverty in Malawi. |
