Italian officials have slammed Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' Scientology wedding, insisting it isn't legal or recognised under Italian law.
Bracciano mayor Patrizia Riccioni said: "The wedding is not recognised by Italian law. For that to happen, I would have to be there". This is because Scientology ceremonies aren't accepted as legal and Tom has been married twice before. Tom's rep insisted that they were doing everything to make sure the marriage was legally recognised.
The couple were also slammed by local priest Nicola Fiorentini, who said: 'It wasn't a wedding at all. It was just for publicity. I can't believe such an event was allowed to take place at all.' |
