Funk-pop group The Black Eyed Peas won three American Music Awards. The group led the nominations in three categories (Best Rap/Hip Hop, Best Soul/R&B, and Best Album for Monkey Business. The Peas weren't able to be there to accept the awards in person, as they're touring in Cuba. Other big winners were also absent, including Kelly Clarkson (2 awards), Red Hot Chili Peppers (2 award), and Eminem (1 award). Mariah Carey received three npminations but walked away empty-handed. The 36-year-old singer re-lived her 1997 AMA nightmare when she was nominated in six categories but didn't get a single gone. |
