Madonna will face a court battle over her interim adoption of David Banda.
A Malawian judge ruled that a coalition of 67 Malawian groups, who lodged a petition last month, have the right to bid for a review of the order. They claim that Madonna fast-tracked adoption proedures and broke laws against intra-country adoptions, which are not generally allowed in Malawi, and want to assess her fitness as a mother.
Madonna told the BBC: "There are no adoption laws in Malawi. And I was warned by my social worker that because there were no known laws in Malawi, they were more or less going to have to make them up as we went along." |
