Giorgio Armani has alleged the Beckhams are moving to Hollywood because he wants to be an actor.
The Italian designer, who has worked with the England team on their kit and who saw the Beckhams at Tom Cruise's big fat Italian wedding to Katie Holmes, is quoted as saying: "If reports (of Beck's now confirmed £128 million deal with LA Galaxy) are true, then he has done the right thing. And I think he wants to be an actor, not a footballer...He is a very handsome man and his football career could be nearing an end. Also, look at this wife...I saw her at Tom Cruise's wedding and she is a very bubbly lady."
And there we were thinking that it was Posh who was after fame in the US. Still, we're not convinced that Becks really thinks he's the next Brad Pitt, even though he looks the part. There are already zillions of stories circulating about the reasons behind the move: Posh's TV/fashion/acting ambition (she's said to be after a cameo in Desperate Housewives), the specialist epilepsy care available in LA for little Romeo, the global marketing of Brand Beckham (to include a Martha Stewart-style homeware range and a pregnancy range, to fit in with the baby they want to try for in the US) and, of course, the small matter of a £128 million contract. Fair play to them - who wouldn't for £128 million?! |
