Jennifer Connelly has revealed she and husband Paul Bettany have considered adopting a child from Africa.
The pair, who met on the set of A Beautiful Mind and married in 2003, have two sons, Kai and Stellan (Kai's father is Jennifer's first husband David Dugan).
While Jennifer was filming The Blood Diamond with Leo DiCaprio in Sierra Leone recently, she visited orphanages and fell in love with many underprivileged kids there, but she says she has to put her sons, especially Kai, first and would need to consider adoption very carefully.
"We absolutely considered adopting," Jennifer said. "We have a son who went through a separation of his parents and then a new stepfather and a new sibling. He's had a lot of change so of course I really have to be sensitive to him. These are all concerns of mine and reasons why I didn't come home with a child even though, believe me, I would call Paul at night when he was away. I'd say, 'There's this baby and I don't know what to do and I love him so much and if I leave him here he might die.' It's complicated, but we are still considering." |
