Keith Urban has paid tribute to wife Nicole Kidman for supporting him through rehab.
The country singer spent 90 days at the Betty Ford Clinic in Palm Springs, California, being treated for alcohol addiction after it had started to make his life unmanageable. His spell in rehab came just four months after his marriage to fellow Aussie Nicole. The 39-year-old is now on the mend and preparing for his Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing world tour which will begin in the UK in April.
Urban released a video message on his website in which he said, "My wife stayed extraordinarily strong and loving, my friends and family were there and it's just been really overwhelming. I feel so much gratitude. It feels really good to have gone through it and be where I am right now.
There was no big, cataclysmic event that happened right before I went in. But it was a lot of small things that were happening in my life, and a lot of small moments that were starting to accumulate that were telling me very loud and clear that I was a long way from my programme of recovery, and they were making my life unmanageable." |
