| The Queen, won the coveted Best Film gong at this year's BAFTAs. With ten nominations, the film, which charts the story of the monarchy after the tragic death of Princess Diana, had been an early favourite, and actress Helen Mirren had been hotly tipped for Best Actress, which she won. Pan's Labyrinth, from Guillermo Del Toro, got three awards, for best costume, best make-up and best foreign language film. Best director went to Paul Greengrass for his film about the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, United 93.
