Robbie Williams checked into a rehab clinic on his 33rd birthday to seek treatment for an addiction to prescription medication.
Robbie, who currently lives in LA, entered the American clinic after his habit spiralled out of control. It's the second time he's been in rehab, the first time being after he went on a drink and drug-fuelled bender after his departure from Take That in 1995. His friend Elton John persuaded him to seek help then, but it seems this time he's taken the initiative himself.
Robbie has seen his career nose-dive this year, with relatively poor sales and a lukewarm reception to his Rudebox album. He's also had to cope with Take That's resurgence and comeback. Ironically, the re-formed boyband have now topped the charts and been nominated for a BRIT Award for single Patience, while Robbie failed to get any nominations this year. He pulled out of his Asian tour in September due to 'stress and exhaustion.' |
