A hilrious BRIT Awards ceremony at Earl's Court in London last night saw a return to the good old-fashioned live fun of old, with host Russell Brand mercilessly poking fun at figures such as David Cameron. Jarvis Cocker even showed up for the first live ceremony in years.
No single band dominated the awards; The Arctic Monkeys and The Killers each took home two awards, for Best album, Best British Group, Best International album and Best International Group respectively. Poor Lily Allen was nominated for four and went away empty-handed!
Best Female went to Amy Winehouse and Best Male to James Morrison, while the gong for Best Single was picked up by the resurgent Take That. Muse took home Best British Live Act and The Fratellis were crowned Best British Breakthrough Act. Best International Solo Artists were Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. Oasis were given the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award.
Joss Stone and Take That wished rehab-bound Robbie Williams all the best. |
