Madonna's latest is she wants to be worshipped as a spiritual leader. We kid you not.
Not content with merely being the Queen of Pop, Madonna wants her name to be spoken in the same breath as greats such as Ghandi and Martin Luther King. Well, she always was ambitious...
Madge says that while her controvertial antics such as her raunchy Like A Prayer video (remember the black Jesus?) and her recent cross-mounting antics aren't intended to get at the Church, she is out to get a spiritual message across.
Madonna told US radio station Sirius Satellite: "For me we all need to be Jesus in our time. Jesus' message was to love your neighbour as yourself, and there are people in need. I hope that people got that message. Of course some people thought, 'Oh, she's just being controversial, she's just getting on a cross and trying to p**s people off,' but that wasn't my intention at all. I want to be like Gandhi and Martin Luther King and John Lennon - but I want to stay alive."
We're not quite sure where the similarities lie... |
