Actor Robert Redford attended the opening of the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. Redford founded Sundance in 1981, as an independent film festival, although critics support that it has been hijacked by Hollywood in recent years. Sixteen films are presented in each of the categories of competition, and for the first time, an award will be given out to the best foreign documentary. Sundance has seen previous opening success with such films as Reservoir Dogs, The Blair Witch Project, Thirteen, The Full Monty and Transpotting. This year's the proceedings kicked off with Happy Endings, featuring Lisa Kudrow. |
