American actor Michael Douglas will co-produce and perform in Racing the Monsoon. The American-Indian coproduction will be filmed entirely in Asia, starting early next year. According to Douglas, Racing the Monsoon is a romantic film, along the lines of Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile. He added, "Right now, we are developing the screenplay and hope to begin production in early 2006." The actor-come-producer hopes to cast actress, Aishwarya Rai (Bride & Prejudice) as the female lead. Many Indian locals will be in the cast.
