Irish actor Pierce Brosnan will star opposite Meryl Streep in the film version of Mamma Mia! Universal will begin production on the film adaptation of the popular musical this June in London and Greece. Brosnan, who demonstrated his singing talent in the film Evelyn, will play Sam. During an interview with Variety magazine, the actor said he was very excited about the project: "I said yes right away because it meant working with Meryl Streep." The actor added, "I saw the show with my family in London, and found it just so wonderfully happy and joyful." Phyllida Lloyd will direct the film. She also directed the stage production in London and on Broadway. Mamma Mia! includes 22 ABBA songs, including Dancing Queen, Take a Chance on Me and Winner Takes It All. |
