U2 guitar legend The Edge, is to donate his favourite guitar to charity. The musician decided to part with his beloved 1975 Gibson Les Paul in order to raise funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The Edge is the co-founder of the Music Rising organisation which aims to replace musical equipment that was lost or destroyed in the hurricane. The guitar will be one of 200 items up for grabs at the Icons of Music auction, which ends on April 21st. Among the other items will be a saxophone autographed by former American President Bill Clinton, and a music contract signed by Elvis Presley. Hurricane Katrina hit the southern United States in August of 2005, killing 1,300 people. |
