Irish rock group U2 took advantage of the enormous audience at this year's Grammy awards to apologise to their fans. The drummer for the group, Larry Mullen, Jr., made an apology on behalf of the group for the many fans who were unable to purchase tickets for their recent world tour. Mullen had previously given an explanation to the press, stating that computer problems were the reason that fans were unable to purhase tickets via the internet. When the band was brought on stage to receive the award for BEST ROCK PERFORMANCE, the drummer made his statement. He said, "Due to circumstances beyond our control a lot of our long-suffering fans ended up queuing overnight and didn't get tickets and I'd just like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the band, to apologise to them." The U2 world tour begins on March 28 in San Diego, California. In most cases, tickets for the first announced cities were sold out within minutes. |
