Four months after Christopher Reeve succombed to cardiac failure, his wife, Dana Reeve, is to break her media silence. Mrs Reeve will make her first interview, with Oprah Winfrey next Wednesday. She recounted the last moments with Chris and describes how the doctors kept him alive until she could be by his side. "I came running into the elevator," the widow tells Oprah. "He was on the second floor. I ran up the stairs, I didn't want to wait for the elevator. I threw my things and ran into the room. It was clear to me that it was the end." Dana had to travel cross-country by plane to be at her husband's side. He was being treated at Northern Westchester Hospital for an infection. Reeve was left paralysed following a riding accident in 1995. Reeve's son, Will, joins his mother to talk about the final hours of the actor's life. Oprah also contacted many of the stars friends for comments, including Glenn Close, Robin Williams and Alec Baldwin. |
