The Supreme Court of India has overturned the arrest warrant issued for actors Richard Gere and Shilpa Shetty over the great kiss scandal. The decision to suspend the arrest warrant for Richard Gere in India was taken after the Court decided it needs to determine if they have jurisdiction in the case. Gere caused riots in India when he kissed local Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty on the lips during an AIDS charity event. Public displays of affection are banned in India, and charges were made against both of them. Gere expressed his regrets and apologised, explaining that he didn't know his behaviour would cause such outrage in India. |
