Steven Spielberg is planning a film for the summer about the massacre of the Isreali athletes at the Munich Olympics, in 1972. The filming of the movie by Universal/Dreamworks was set to start last summer, with the cast selected, when Spielberg decided to hire Tony Kushner (Angels in America) to rewrite the story, even though Eric Roth (Forrest Gump) and Charles Randolph (The Interpreter) had already started work on the film. With the project delayed, Spielberg decided to begin shooting the silver screen adaptation of War of the Worlds, starring Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning. Universal Pictures says the Olympic film is expected to hit our screens next December. |
