George Michael has confessed to being addicted to prescription drugs and marijuana, and says he believed the world would be a better place if more people smoked weed.
The 43-year-old singer, who recently plead guilty to charges of driving under the influence of drugs, told Parkinson on his show that he is addicted to cocktails of prescription drugs, which explains why he was found slumped at the wheel of his car on more than one occasion last year.
"It involves prescribed drugs and it involves a dependency on them and the tendency to chase one drug with another because of side effects," he said.
George is due in court at the end of the month (May) for sentencing. He says he's sick of the media attention he gets in the UK and may relocate to the US. His comments on the use of marijuana did little to calm the media storm, however. Michael is quoted as saying, "We could sit here with any number of policemen and doctors and they would all tell you if everybody who had a dependence on alcohol changed their mind and had a dependence on weed, the world would be a much easier place to live in." |
