Filmmaker Steven Spielberg has donated one million dollars. The American director gave the substantial amount of money to a foundation that has been formed by the stars of the film Ocean's Thirteen, George Clooney and Brad Pitt, to bring aid to Darfur. The two stars, who are currently promoting their film in Cannes, raised $9 million for their charity. The foundation is called Save Darfur, and Spielberg's was the most generous donation that was collected. Darfur is a region in Africa that has been going through a civil war since 2003. More than 200,000 people have lost their lives in the tragedy while more than 2 million have become refugees and are without homes. |
