'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix' had its world premiere in Tokyo last night (28.06.07).
Daniel Radcliffe was greeted by screaming fans as he arrived on the red carpet before the first showing of his much-anticipated fifth outing as the boy wizard.
Many of the fans wore fancy dress and brandished wands as they thrust posters and presents towards the 17-year-old star.
Radcliffe responded to the enthusiastic crowds by announcing "Japanese fans are the best" in Japanese.
He said: "It's just absolutely brilliant. Harry's an icon. He is somebody whose character has gotten his generation of kids into reading. So it's an honour to play him.
"I don't see myself as having grown up on screen. I simply see myself as having grown up. So it's probably stranger for people who have watched all the films."
The film features Harry's first kiss with fellow Hogwarts student Cho Chang, played by Katy Leung.
Leung declared: "I'M sure everyone wants to know if he was a good kisser. He definitely was."
The film will hit cinemas around the world from July 11. |
