Director Peter Jackson and his production company, Wingnut Films, has sued New Line Cinema over the profits from the hit trilogy, The Lord of the Rings. Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring earned $314.8 million dollars in North American box offices, and $556.6 million internationally. The official suit filed in Los Angeles, states that New Line Cinema did not correctly calculate the revenue from the first film, omitting the money earned from DVD sales. Wingnut also stated that New Line offered a settlement in the negotiations for the distribution licenses. The amount of the suit was not available at the time of going to press. |
