Lindsay Lohan is back in rehab.
The 'Mean Girls' star checked into an undisclosed facility yesterday
(24.07.07) after she was arrested for DUI (driving under the influence) in Santa Monica following a police car chase. The 21-year-old has not returned to Malibu's Promises centre where she recently completed a 45-day programme for alcoholism.
Lindsay said of her latest arrest: "Yes. I am innocent... did not do drugs they're not mine. I was almost hit by my assistant Tarin's mom. I appreciate everyone giving me my privacy."
The actress - who is already facing charges of DUI from an arrest in May - was yesterday charged with DUI, possession of cocaine, transporting a narcotic into a custody facility and driving on a suspended licence.
Lindsay's mother Dina said: "I am sick over this.
"We are doing everything in our power in support of Lindsay and I won't give up - this is my daughter and we love her.
"Lindsay is in a safe place, and we are trying to strategically work out our next step."
The 'I Know Who Killed Me' star was wearing an alcohol-monitoring bracelet at the time of her arrest. It regularly records the wearer's blood alcohol level from their sweat and transmits the results back to a central monitoring system, raising an alarm is alcohol is present. The alarm is also triggered if the bracelet is removed.
Lindsay's lawyer, Blair Berk, insisted the actress is in the grip of a "terrible and vicious disease".
Blair added in a statement: "Throughout this period, I have received timely and accurate reports from the testing companies.
"Unfortunately, late Monday (23.07.07) I was informed that Lindsay had relapsed. The bracelet has now been removed. She is safe, out of custody and presently receiving medical care." |
