Michelle Pfeiffer thinks she looks young and beautiful - because she has terrible eyesight.
The 49-year-old actress believes people's vision deteriorates as they get older to save them from watching their looks deteriorate.
She quipped: "As you get older, there's a reason why our eyes go bad. It means you can't see what you really look like. I mean, I can barely see anything these days, so I think that I - and everyone else - look pretty good."
Despite being happy with her looks, Pfeiffer was recently told she had an "old and decrepit" body during an interview.
The 'Hairspray' actress - who is married to 'Ally McBeal' creator David E.
Kelley - explained to Total Film magazine: "The other day I was speaking to some foreign press and one reporter actually said to me, 'So now you have this old and decrepit body,' or something.
"And I thought, 'OK maybe she just has a heavy accent and I misheard.' So I asked, 'Excuse me, did you just say I have an old and decrepit body?' And she nodded! I don't think she meant it like that but still, old and decrepit. that's still some way off!"
Pfeiffer recently admitted she would consider having plastic surgery - if she needed it.
She said: "I don't have anything against it and I think there is a lot of pressure on women. It's hard ageing these days.
"If one day, I look in the mirror and I just can't stand it anymore, than I may be right there."
