Director Peter Jackson has said it will be three to four years before filming can begin on The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien. Jackson took a weekend off recently from his King Kong shoot, to visit Sydney's Powerhouse Museum to check out the Lord of the Rings exhibition, where he spoke briefly to fans about the his plans for The Hobbit. The rights for the film are split between MGM and New Line Cinema. Jackson said that he's keen to return to Middle Earth, but that MGM's recent sale to Sony had created some complications: "I think there is probably a will and a desire to try and get it made," he said. "But I think it's gonna be a lot of lawyers sitting in a room trying to thrash out a deal before it will ever happen." Peter Jackson's next film, King Kong, will be in cinemas in December.
