Christopher Reeve's widow has talked for the first time about the death of her 'Superman' husband. Dana Reeve was 3,000 miles away when she was told he was going to die - and got to the hospital just seconds after he passed away, after racing accross the States. She revealed how actor friend Robin Williams gave her personal use of his private jet to get to the hospital, as she was appearing in a play at the time, in California. "I wasn't prepared for his death," she revealed, "I got the phone call the day before I was supposed to leave California." When she arrived at the hospital last October, doctors were still desperately trying to revive Reeve, 52, who was paralysed after a horseriding accident in 1995. "I just started screaming and crying and saying, 'I love you' and 'sorry I wasn't here for you'. "But the amazing thing is that, during all of it, I then turned and said 'Thankyou, thankyou' to the doctors,". She told Now magazine: "I made a vow to Chris when we married that I'd love him and be with him in sickness and in health and I did OK with that." Reeve starred in the four Superman films. Filming of a Superman prequel, starring little known actor Brandon Routh, started this week in Australia. |
