Alicia Keys to Star in New Movie

American singer Alicia Keys will soon make her big-screen debut, in the cinematic version of the book, Compositions in Black and White, as pianist Philippa Schuyler.

Jose Rivera is writing the screenplay based on Kathryn Talalay's biography of Schuyler, who grew up a child prodigy, and was the first child of color to become a prominent musician in the 1930s.  By the age of five, she was composing her own music but racial stereotypes and the problems of the time, put the brakes on her progress.
