Joaquin Phoenix has cheked himself into a detoxification centre for the treatment of alcohol abuse. Phoenix, 30, is known for his sensitive work in several successful films, including Gladiator, Signs, and The Village. His agent, Susan Patricola, confied he has been in rehab for two weeks, adding that: "He was uncomfortable with the way he was living his life and found the courage to deal with the disease." It's not known at the moment if his treatment will create problems for his current project, Walk the Line, which is scheduled to begin in June. Phoenix, whose brother River died from a drugs overdose in 1993, is set to star in the lead role, as country singer Johnny Cash. |
