Matthew Perry and comedian George Lopez are set to take the leading roles in the screen version of CHiPs. The announcement was made by one of the stars of the original television series, Erik Estrada, after speaking to Lopez, with whom he is close friends. Estrada, who played police officer Frank Poncherello in the 1980s series, said "George expects to modernise the series, bringing in a lot more humour... It might work." If the film is successful, we may see Starsky & Hutch and Miami Vice on the silver screen as well. |
