Ewan McGregor has lost a almost a stone rehersing for his lead role as Sky Masterson in the upcominig production of 1950s hit show Guys and Dolls.
He said: 'I can eat like a horse but they have to keep taking the suits in. It's great. It's maybe the one element of the musical I had considered the least. I had worried about the singing but suddenly I went to the first choreography session and thought, 's***, it's quite full on'.
It isn't the first time McGregor - who stars as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars III: Revenge Of The Sith, which is out in the UK on Thursday - has slimmed down for a role. He starved himself to lose two stone to play junkie Renton in Trainspotting. McGregor, 34, hasn't acted in a theatre since 1999, and it will also be the first time he has sung on stage. The Crieff-born star - who appears alongside Ally McBeal actress Jane Krakowski, Douglas Hodge and Jenna Russell - worked hard to perfect his stage routines. Co-star Douglas said: 'We do work-outs in the morning, physical work-outs every day - it's a heightened energy show.'
Guys And Dolls opens at London's Piccadilly Theatre on June 1st. |
