Multi-talented MC Mike Shinoda of the band Linkin Park is going solo at least for one album.
Under the artist name Fort Minor, Shinoda has released the album Rising Tied. He opted to release the album under a new name not because he wanted to disconnect himself from Linkin Park, but because the album features many collaborations, including tracks from Styles of Beyond, Black Thought, Common, John Legend, The Roots and more.
After working with Jay on Collision Course, the pair became friends. Shinoda invited him on the album as executive producer, although Jay will not be featured on any of the songs. 'I wanted to respect his retirement' says Shinoda in an interview. The album has gone down very well with the press, after they were played a five-track sample. The first single to be taken from the album will be 'Remember the Name', featuring Styles of Beyond, an overview of the whole album. 'You can tell we're really having fun with it' says Mike. He also said 'if you're going to look to download a song from the album online go for that one first...but I'M not just gonna tell you where to find it you've gotta be creative'.
Fort Minor's 'The Rising Tied' is set for a late summer release, so look out for it around Mid July to Late August.
