Sharon Stone has announced that her recent star-studded AIDS benefit auction in Cannes, full of her celebrity friends has raised more than $2 million for various AIDS charities. Stone co-hosted the event with Liza Minnelli, whilst the event was organised by AIDS benefit group AMFAR (American Foundation for AIDS Research) and attended by several celebrities, including Penelope Cruz, Joely Richardson, Salma Hayek, Brittany Murphy and Mila Jovovich, who were all very generous. Stone, who is in Cannes to promote her next film Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction, explained why she was motivated to help: "I can't watch one child die every minute of Aids and not do something about it. Every person with a good heart should want to stand up and help." |
