Staunch vegetarian Sir Paul McCartney stayed in a leather-clad "ranch room". The 66-year-old musician - who refuses to buy leather shoes and even asked for the leather interior in his Lexus car to be swapped for cloth - is currently on a US road trip with girlfriend Nancy Shevell, and the pair stayed in the specially decorated room during a stop-off in Texas. A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "He booked the room himself, but wouldn't have realised that it had so much leather in its interior. "He would have been a bit annoyed, but the whole point of the trip is to travel anonymously so he wouldn't have caused a fuss. "He can't change how other people decorate a room." The manager of the Ambassador, where the couple booked the £200-a-night Presidential Suite, claims the hotel is renowned for its interior. He said: "Everything is leather, as if you were a rich rancher. I think they got a kick out of that." Meanwhile, Paul and Nancy amazed onlookers with by posing for photographs like any other couple while on their trip. One onlooker said: "They looked really close. There was no security around him or minders. "They just looked like two lovers wrapped up in each other's company." |
