Tom Chaplin's 'stupid' Noel jibe

Tom Chaplin's 'stupid' Noel jibe - Keane
Published by Bang

Keane singer Tom Chaplin says Noel Gallagher is "stupid" for branding his band "s**t".

Keane singer Tom Chaplin says Noel Gallagher is "stupid" for attacking his band.
The Oasis guitarist recently branded Tom's band "s**t", but the vocalist insists it is time Noel, 41, grew up and learnt to respect his peers.
After being told what Noel had said about Keane at yesterday's Q Awards, Tom - who, along with his bandmates, collected the Best Track prize for single 'Spiralling' at the London ceremony - told BANG Showbiz: "I can't be bothered with it to be quite honest. It's pointless in the world of music. In any other form of art nobody does that, it's just stupid."
Noel blasted Keane for claiming they had taken themselves out of their "comfort zone" while recording upcoming album 'Perfect Symmetry'.
'The Shock of the Lightning' songwriter fumed: "Tom's going on and on about being taken out of his comfort zone when making his new album. What the f**k does that mean?
"Why would you want to be uncomfortable when making an album? No matter what direction Keane take, it doesn't matter - they'll still be s**t."
Despite Noel's criticism, Tom is incredibly proud of the record and, in a veiled swipe at Oasis, insists he and his bandmates - Tim Rice-Oxley and Richard Hughes - will never "churn out the same old stuff".
He said: "We want to be brave about everything we're doing, and not play it safe as a band. All the people that have inspired us are all the people who have evolved and changed what they're doing. I don't think we want to be one of those bands that forever remains the same, churning out the same old stuff."
A host of stars attended this year's Q Awards, among the biggest names were Coldplay - who scooped two prizes, including Best Act in the World Today - The Who's Roger Daltrey, Kaiser Chiefs - who took home Best Live Act - and Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, who was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Music prize.
