Tom Cruise has revealed he was so certain he wanted to marry Katie Holmes that he bought her an engagement ring after their first date in 2005.

The 'Valkyrie' actor - who has a two-year-old daughter Suri with Katie - knew after their first meeting in 2005 he wanted to spend the rest of his life with the 'Dawson's Creek' star.
He said: "I knew I wanted to marry Kate when I met her. When she told me she had dreamed of marrying me as a little girl, I said I wouldn't want to disappoint her. At one point, I thought she was going to ask me to marry her first and I put her off by changing the subject. I wanted to ask her."
In a separate interview, which also appears in T: The New York Times Style Magazine alongside Tom's, Katie revealed she feels more fulfilled since meeting 46-year-old Tom.
She said: "When I met Tom I was completely in love and, yes, I admired him growing up - he's Tom Cruise! When I met him, he was so warm and I thought, 'Wow! You can be a superstar and a human being'. He made me feel so amazing.
"My life has expanded. My family and friends are all a part of this bigger life."
Katie, 29, also blasted reports she is hiding behind Tom, insisting she has her own personality.
She added: "There's a misperception about me that I just became this wallflower, this woman who doesn't have any control of her life. And that's pretty wrong. From the very beginning, I've made choices in my life that have been very strong." |
