Shaha Adham - who was arrested for attempted murder hours before Scott Ruffalo died on Monday (08.12.08) - insists she played no part in his death, claiming it was the result of a lethal game of chance gone wrong.
Her lawyer Ronald Richards told the New York Daily News newspaper: "We expect the coroner's report to show the shooting was a result of the victim's chronic playing of Russian Roulette and his dangerous playing with firearms while under the use of controlled substances.
"My client was a good friend of the victim and is very sad for the loss of his family. However, she played no role whatsoever in his accidental death.
"I can confirm that my client was present when Mr. Ruffalo shot himself. She was picking up some keys."
Richards also alleges Scott - who died on Monday after he was taken off a life support machine, one week after he was found with a gunshot wound to the head in his Beverly Hills home - was a known cocaine user who regularly played with guns in front of friends.
Lieutenant Tony Lee, from the Beverly Hills Police Department, said he couldn't comment on the allegations due to the ongoing "intense" investigation.
Police wanted to interview Adham, along with "person of interest" Brian Scofield, because they were on the surveillance video at the hairdresser's home, Richards said.
Adham is expected to be charged with murder in the wake of Scott's death.
Meanwhile, a representative for actor Mark has released a statement thanking fans for their support.
It read: "Mark Ruffalo and his family deeply appreciate the outpouring of prayers and support during this most difficult time of the passing of Scott Ruffalo, beloved son, brother and husband. The funeral service will be private. A memorial fund has been established in Scott Ruffalo's name."
