The studio has hired Gregory Poirier to write the screenplay, and Jon Turtletaub will direct.  Poirier also wrote the script for the Disney film Swiss Family Robinson.  The idea for the story has not yet been revealed, but producers are keen to exploit the popularity of the first film, which starred Nicolas Cage, Sean Bean, Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha and Jon Voight, and earned $347.5 million worldwide.
