Tom Cruise has confirmed that he and Katie Holmes are now officially engaged, after popping the question early on Friday morning at the Eiffel Tower, in Paris. Cruise, who has been openly declaring his love for Holmes to the media for weeks now, said in a press conference, "Yes, I proposed to her. It was early this morning at the Eiffel Tower, so I haven't slept at all," he said. "Today is a magnificent day for me, I'M engaged to a magnificent woman." When questioned about his choice of location for the big moment, Cruise replied, "I've never been to the Eiffel Tower. It's Paris, it's a beautiful city, it's very romantic." Cruise, 42, was in Paris for the premier of his film War of the Worlds, directed by Steven Spielberg. Cruise and Holmes made their relationship public knowledge in April, and marriage rumours have been circulating ever since. |
