Oasis have been nominated for seven Shockwave NME awards, including Best British Band, Best Album and surprisingly Worst Band. Oasis have been nominated for seven Shockwave NME awards. The band, fronted by Liam Gallagher, are up for six accolades, including Best British Band, Best Live Band and Best Album for 'Dig Out Your Soul'. Guitarist Noel Gallagher's sense of style has also been recognised with a nomination in the Best Dressed category, in which he is up against new US President Barack Obama. He said: "Seven nominations, you say? Is that all? I always knew my time would come in the best dressed man in the world category." Surprisingly, the group are also up for the 'honour' of Worst Band along with Tokio Hotel, the Jonas Brothers, Scouting for Girls and Fall Out Boy. Alex Turner picked up six nominations for his work with The Last Shadow Puppets, Arctic Monkeys and individually. Kings of Leon, MGMT, Radiohead and Vampire Weekend have all been recognised in several categories. 'Rehab' singer Amy Winehouse - who was up for four awards last year - is only mentioned in one category this year: Villain of the Year. The troubled soul star lost out on the unwanted accolade to former US President George Bush last year, and faces competition from British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Republican Presidential candidate John McCain and Pete Doherty this year. Britney Spears will compete for the Worst Album prize for the second consecutive year, this time against Coldplay, Razorlight, the Jonas Brothers and Scouting For Girls. The shortlist was picked by readers of the British music magazine and fans can now vote for their favourites at www.nme.com/awards. The NME Awards will take place at London's Brixton Academy on February 25.
