John Travolta may give evidence in the trial of two people accused of trying to blackmail him in the aftermath of the death of his teenage son Jett - who passed away in the Bahamas in January after suffering a seizure - after the defendants pleaded not guilty.

The 'Pulp Fiction' star is set to be called as a key witness in the trial of paramedic Tarino Lightbourne, 47, and former Senator Pleasant Bridgewater, 49, who are accused of trying to extort $25 million from the actor and his family following the shock death of their 16-year-old son Jett in January.
Bridgewater - who is charged with abatement to extort - and her co-defendant, who was charged with attempted extortion, are reported to have told Travolta they were in possession of embarrassing information regarding the circumstances of the teenager's death and demanded the staggering sum to keep quiet.
The defendants have 21 days to indicate if they plan to submit their alibis or call witnesses for the trial.
A spokesperson for Travolta has not yet confirmed whether he will appear in court or whether he and wife Kelly Preston plan to travel to the Bahamas - where Jett passed away after suffering a seizure during a family holiday - for the trial.
Family friend and MP Obie Wilchcombe - who was questioned about the allegations but released without charge - is also expected to testify.
Both defendants remain free on $50,000 bail until their trial, which begins on September 21 and is expected to last for three weeks. Lightbourne must check in with police every day.
