Johnny Depp loves ''firing imaginations'' with his movie characters and relishes children dressing up as his on-screen alter egos. Johnny Depp likes children to dress up as him. The 'Public Enemies' star - who plays notorious 30s bank robber John Dillinger in the new movie - hates to think of himself as a role model, but admits it is satisfying when he sees kids wearing costumes based on his characters. He said: "I've never ever thought of myself as a role model, not in any of my movies and definitely not in 'Public Enemies'. God forbid! That's weird. "Maybe one or two of my characters have inspired some people. Children, I love it when I see youngsters dressing up as Jack Sparrow from 'Pirates of the Caribbean', but that's not vanity, it's because we've fired their imaginations - and imagination is such a vital thing for them." Despite hoping young people don't look up to Dillinger, 46-year-old Johnny loved playing the suave criminal. Describing how thrilled he was when director Michael Mann presented him with a trunk full of Dillinger's clothing, Johnny told Total Film magazine: "It was incredible - all of the dress shirts were still folded perfectly. It was a real insight into the guy. Oh and get this - everything fitted! We're the same size!" |
