The guitarist from the Rolling Stones, Keith Richards, has finally accepted an offer to star in a Pirates of the Caribbean film. The well-known musician will play the father of Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, after Depp himself insisted that Richards take the part. Depp has said in the past that he modelled his character on the famous rocker. Bill Nighy, another of the film's stars, has confirmed that Richards has joined the cast, he said: "I can confirm, Keith Richards will appear in Pirates of the Caribbean 2 or 3. I'M not sure which one, because they are being filmed back to back." Pirates of the Caribbean was enormously successful in box offices, earning more than $650 million in 2003. Producers have already announced that two sequels are in the pipeline. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, is expected in cinemas in July, 2006. |
