American actress Cameron Diaz took the stand Thursday in Los Angeles, in a trial over racy photos taken of the star in the early days of her career. Diaz told the court that she was excited to have the topless photos taken in 1992, as she thought it would boost her modelling career. However the photographer, John Rutter, recently attempted to use them to bribe the star. Diaz stated that Rutter, 42, asked her for $3.3 million to return the photographs and negatives to her. When she refused to pay, Rutter attempted to sell the pics, using an alleged forged signature of her authorisation. Rutter is convicted of grand theft, perjury and forgery, and if convicted he could face up to 6 years in prison. The actress told the court, "I have never signed my name like that." |
