R&B singer Ashanti has been ordered to pay $630,000 US to her former producer for breach of contract, after a New York jury found the American singer guilty of breaking a contract with Genard Parker. The producer recorded a few songs with the star before she went on to become a Grammy winner. Ashanti, then only 16, pleaded with Parker to help her find a record deal. When that happened, Genard allowed her to end her contract with him, with the agreement that he would produce two songs on her first album, which never happened. Lawyers for the singer state that they will appeal the decision. |
