The title of the next film by director Steven Spielberg was officially announced today, along with the expected release date. The film iwill be called Munich, and is expected to be released in time for Christmas. It recounts the true story of the assasination of 11 Israeli athletes, at the 1972 Olympic games in Munich. Australian actor Eric Bana (The Hulk, Troy) will play the role of the Secret Service agent in charge of the anti-terrorist operation. The screenplay was written by Tony Kushner, a Pulitzer Prize winner, as well as a Tony award winner. He is best known for his Broadway show "Angels in America", which also became an HBO series of the same name. Munich is being produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Barry Mendel, Colin Wilson and Spielberg. |
